Skjol

Skjol is the name given to Eryk's sword by her great-great grandfather Kurtz. By all accounts it looks like an average one-handed sword of decent make. Although the details are obscure, it is said that a monster was plaguing Jarl Gorm's realm. What monster this was varies, depending on who is telling the story, but it is largely believed to be a wyvern or dragon. The beast would raid livestock and kill any who attempted to harm it.  Gorm had then put a price on the beast's head, but warrior after warrior fell to their foe. Hailing from the small forest village Bromwich, Kurtz, a blacksmith by trade, saw opportunity and would say no more to this tyrant. He fashioned for himself gleaming armor of plate and mail, and with it, a sword in which to pierce its hide. Swearing on his honor, Kurtz vowed to slay the monster, for the good of the village and the protection of his people. And that he did. Triumphantly bringing back the heart of the downed creature as proof. In his eyes, the sword had earned a name. Skjol he called it. Meaning "protector."

Author's Notes:

I decided to name the sword Skjol after the Norse word "skjold," meaning shield.

For the sake of hypothetical gameplay, Skjol would stay with you for the majority of the game, given the narrative significance to the main character Eryk. However, it can be swapped with any weapon you may pick up/craft on your playthrough.

Edit: I made this in Adobe Illustrator. Forgive me. I'm no good with digital art and/or coloring. So here's the approximate color scheme.
